Mosquitoes are Biting More Often in Arizona After Recent Rainfall
With Arizona experiencing increased rainfall in recent weeks, residents are reporting a surge in mosquito bites. The Maricopa County Environmental Services Vector Control Division has noted a significant rise in complaints over the last 10 days compared to the entire previous year. This trend has prompted a division manager, John Townsend, to reveal that they've received nearly a thousand community complaints in just the last week, bringing the total for the calendar year to around 3,000. This is a stark contrast to the approximately 1,000 complaints they received for all of 2024.
One Phoenix resident, Tayja, shared her experience, stating, "They've been very small, and it's been a lot at once. They bit me up. This is the most I've ever been bit by mosquitoes in my life."
