When it comes to Talladega in 2025, there's more beneath the surface than what the official results show—especially when it involves the unpredictable twists of post-race inspections and race-day incidents. Let's start with Ryan Preece. During this spring race at Talladega, Preece delivered an impressive drive, finishing second in the race. On the track, he had the best Driver Rating and maintained the second-best average position throughout the event, clocking in at 11.6. However, despite his strong performance on the track, official results show him in 38th place—an outcome that might leave fans scratching their heads. The reason? Preece was disqualified after the race during post-race inspection, which wiped out his official second-place finish. This incident highlights how regulatory checks can overturn what looks like a stellar race on paper.
Next up is Joey Logano. In the same race, Logano also showcased a solid effort, crossing the finish line in 5th position. Yet, the final standings list him in 39th—another surprising result. Like Preece, Logano was disqualified after the race during the inspection process, dropping him from his actual 5th place to that lower position. Despite this setback, his on-track performance was notable: he had the best average running position at 7th, led the second-highest number of laps (24), and earned the second-best Driver Rating overall. These stats paint a picture of a driver who was clearly competitive, even if the final results don’t reflect that.
Then there's Christopher Bell, whose 35th-place finish might seem disappointing at first glance. But here’s where context matters. During late in Stage 1, shortly after a restart and while battling Buescher for the lead, Bell was bumped by Hamlin. This contact caused him to crash, which ultimately led to his 35th-place finish. Without that crash, Bell’s result might have looked very different, making this an instance where the official result doesn’t fully capture the driver’s performance or potential.
Finally, Brad Keselowski's race was cut short early on. On lap 43, while heading into the pits, Keselowski was involved in a crash that ended his race prematurely, placing him in 36th. It’s a reminder of how unpredictable Talladega can be—sometimes a good drive gets derailed in an instant.
